Arriving from Auckland

If you’re driving
Your journey will take approximately 3 and half hours.
There will be an automatic toll road just north of Auckland, of which a small fee of about $2 each way, talk to us and we can help you pay for this after you arrive.  We strongly recommend you to GPS to the Opua car ferry to complete your entry to Russell, which is charming and very easy.

If you’re flying
Our closest airport is Bay of Islands/Kerikeri. With rental cars right at the front door, this is an extremely easy and hassle-free option. We recommend that guests return their rental car to Kerikeri, take a 35 min flight to Auckland airport, then fly to your next international destination. This will save hours and reduce your stress prior to leaving New Zealand.

If you’d prefer public transport, Buses travel daily from Auckland to Paihia then catch the ferry across the bay to Russell

Catching the Car Ferry

You’ll almost certainly require a ferry to complete your journey to Russell, its delightful and so easy and takes 5 mins.
The Northland Ferry (formally Fullers Car Ferry )runs between Opua and Russell runs between 6am and 10pm and costs about $14 each way. Simply drive on board and pay with cash or card.

A passenger ferry also operates on a similar schedule from Paihia. Do let us know prior if you need picking up from the wharf and we can arrange local transport for you.

Arriving at the Lodge

Once in Russell, set your GPS to 21 Brind Road, Russell which will lead you to our carpark and main entrance.
When you arrive push the door bell and we will come settle you in.
