So what's for breakfast?
An Arcadian breakfast gets away from the cholesterol laden "fry up". The accent is on vivid, fresh flavours using our own home grown fruits and vegetables as well as the best locally grown produce available: organic, spray free and free range whenever we can. We are very lucky in Northland to be able to find really great produce really local.
Our eggs come super-fresh every week from Inger and Grant's farm near Russell. Our yoghurt is organic and made by Mahoe Dairy near Kerikeri who have been Artisan Cheese Champions 2012, 2013 and 2014. We make our own toasted home-made muesli as well as jams and jellies using the grapefruit, lemons, limes, plums and feijoas in our garden. We also make our own chutneys, sauces and relishes. Our breads are organic and we also offer organic teas and coffees sourced from Kerikeri suppliers.
Our cooked breakfast changes daily with the seasons. It could be: fresh asparagus and ham with grilled cheese on focaccia; slow roasted tomatoes on pesto bruschetta with a pork and fennel sausage; kumara, feta and smoked paprika tortilla (spanish style); individual bacon, egg and roast capsicum breakfast pies; bacon, lettuce and tomato on a bagel with a honey mustard dressing; ricotta hot-cakes served with grapes, banana and pure maple syrup; or our take on the traditional french croque monsieur.
